Leaders and parent helpers run an active weekly program which helps Kea Scouts have lots of fun. A real emphasis is placed on interaction with other children in the Kea Club.

The Kea Scout will enjoy a program that includes games, nature and outdoor appreciation, creative play, singing, stories and craftwork.

Cub Scouts meet as a "Pack" and participate in programs that are organised to cater for a wide range of activities. Packs usually consist of up to four smaller groups called "Sixes" which often have six Cubs in each.

Leaders and parent helpers manage a fast-moving and imaginative program, which places emphasis on learning by doing.

Cub Scouts are able to earn the Cub Award and pursue individual interest badges. These awards and badges are designed to promote personal development, foster individual interest and ability.

Scouts are organised into Patrols, each Patrol having its own youth leader. This gives the Scouts the opportunity to choose their own activities, and for the Patrol Leader to develop leadership skills. The Patrols are encouraged to plan and organise activities such as tramping, camping, cycling in order to develop teamwork and self-reliance.

Adult Leaders with the Patrol Leaders are responsible for running an exciting, fun and challenging program based on the Scout method of working in small groups and using the outdoors. The aim is to encourage and foster opportunities for the Scouts to experience Leadership and Teamwork.

A progressive award scheme enables Scouts to learn a range of new skills and earn badges, as well as working on both personal challenges and group activities.

Venturers are one of the sub-organisations within Scouting New Zealand, designed for young New Zealanders to develop leadership and team-building skills. It is targeted to the ages of 14-19, as Venturers plan camps and their own fundraisers with minimal help from a leader.

Pukekohe Venturers meet weekly to discuss possibilities of future activities. We have successfully held numerous camps, including a day tramp at Coromandel and a camp for the younger scouts at the local scout hall. We are also frequently planning new activities and camps. It would be great if we had others join our small group. Common fundraisers such as sausage sizzles and discos have been attempted. Some are more successful than others but it's all part of the learning process.

So if you think Venturers is something you may enjoy, please contact using the enquiry page for more details.
